Me llamo Ana Cialicu y soy una ilustradora rumana afincada en España.
Sí, el apellido es un poco raro de pronunciar, tan sólo léelo como se escribe *Cia*Li*Ku*.
En 2004 dejé mi ciudad natal (Galați) junto a mi madre y hermanas para, como otras tantísimas familias, buscar un lugar en el que vivir mejor.
Por mucho que suene a cliché el dibujo siempre ha formado parte de mi vida.
El dibujo me ayuda a expresar y mostrar sentimientos que no consigo verbalizar.
Mi trabajo se caracteriza principalmente por los retratos femeninos. Mujeres tristes que te miran fijamente a los ojos y te cuentan su historia sin decir ninguna palabra.
La soledad, la pena, el dolor o el miedo son temas que siempre han estado presentes en mi vida. Sensaciones y sentimientos intensos que trato de trasladar a mis chicas. De ahí esa lágrima negra en sus mejillas.
Para crear mis retratos suelo inspirarme en fotografías de todo tipo, en recuerdos y cómo no, en la música.
Actualmente dibujo de manera digital (iPad y Procreate), pero como me cuesta mucho alejarme de los medios tradicionales, decidí personalizar algunos prints con rotuladores y acuarela o cosiendo pequeños bordados.

I’m Ana Cialicu and I’m a Romanian illustrator currently living in Spain.
Yeah, my last name it’s a bit tricky to spell so just say it *Cia*Li*Ku*.
In 2004 I left my hometown (Galați) with my mom and sisters to find a better place to live, just like so many other families.
It may sound like a cliche but drawing has always been a part of my life. Drawing helps me to show and express feelings that I can’t verbalise.
My work is mostly marked by female portraits. Sad women that stare at you and they tell you their story without saying a word.
Loneliness, grief, pain or fear are topics that have always been present in my life. Sensations and feelings that I try to pass to my girls. That’s why I put the black tear on their cheek.
To create my portraits I usually get inspired by any kind of photography, memories and of course, music.
Currently I draw digitally (iPad and Procreate), but as I find it really hard not to use traditional methods I decided to custom some prints with markers and watercolour or by embroider little details.
